Toy library rings changes

Toy librarians

Te Awamutu Community Toy Library has had a revamp of volunteers and Tovah O’Neill has stepped down after three years as president to pursue her tutoring business.

Michelle Richardson who has volunteered at the toy library for five years has left the secretary role to pursue her café business in Pirongia, Mountain Folk Café Retreat.

Lindy Bennett and Bertie Pendleton have stepped up as co-presidents and their vision is to continue to provide affordable and sustainable toys to the Waipa Community.

O’Neill said she stepped down feeling proud of the lifting quality and variety of toys at the library.

“Giving children the opportunity to learn-through-play means they are introduced to a variety of learning resources, have a safe and inviting place to go to in their little worlds, and they have the opportunity to make new friends. It is a teacher’s dream,” she said.

We participated in several events over the years, which I am proud of, such as Treeawamutu, The Christmas parade, and our Hallowe’en night.”

Meanwhile, the library is on the lookout for more volunteers.
