The Te Awamutu Fire Brigade’s new response vehicle has become a valuable asset to the community.
Since its introduction two months ago, the vehicle has been used about 10 times to support crews at motor vehicle crashes and lift assists.
A dedication and blessing for the emergency response ute was held in mid-March.
“It hasn’t been on the run too long, but it’s been to a few accidents, a backup for the fires and back up for medicals as well,” qualified firefighter Deane Mark said.
Te Awamutu Fire Brigade members, families and sponsors gathered for the official dedication and blessing of the ute in March.
A year-long project was driven by generosity from Te Awamutu individuals, organisations and businesses.
Chief fire officer Ian Campbell said the vehicle significantly strengthened the brigade’s response capability for years to come.
A major contributor to the project’s success was the Sam Cane Fundraising Night held in August 2025.
The new response vehicle is a valuable asset to the Te Awamutu Fire Brigade and community.
“The generosity shown by our sponsors and supporters was extraordinary,” Campbell said.
“The new ute’s 4×4 capability, along with the advanced extraction tools we plan to equip it with, will strengthen our ability to support both rural communities and urban rescues when severe weather events strike.”
“This vehicle is a direct result of the support we received. It will enhance our operational capability and help us protect our community for many years to come.”
