Te Awamutu now has a seven day a week e-waste drop-off point at the Resource Recovery Centre in Daphne Street. Having the facility, a result of a partnership between Urban Miners and Evolve Ventures, negates the need for monthly collections. Residents can now drop off unwanted electronics at the same time as they bring in other items for recycling, re-purposing and re-use.
Clinical placement locations

The regions and their hospitals are: Waikato (Waikato), Bay of Plenty (Tauranga), Taranaki/Whanganui (Taranaki Base, Whanganui), Hawke’s Bay (Hawke’s Bay Fallen Soldiers Hastings, Memorial Wairoa), Nelson/Marlborough (Nelson and Wairau).

Ōhaupō plan
A proposal to rezone more than 20ha of pastoral farmland on the southern edge of Ōhaupō has been opened for public feedback. Honeycomb Developments wants to rezone land on Ryburn and Ōhaupō roads from rural to residential.
Bridge sites
Four potential bridge options in Cambridge will be investigated further for Waipā District Council’s draft Cambridge Connections Transport Plan. They include linking Matos Segedin Drive with Cambridge Road, a crossing nearer the town centre and increasing the capacity of existing crossing.
Rukuhia crash
Sue Davies at the Raynes Road and SH3 intersection where a 70-year-old woman died in a car accident.
One person was seriously injured when two vehicles were involved in a crash at the intersection of Raynes Road and Ōhaupō Rd on Monday morning.

Digital saint
Carlo Acutis
The relic of Carlo Acutis, described as a saint for the digital age, is travelling through the Hamilton Catholic Diocese, which includes Cambridge, Te Awamutu and King Country, this month. Monsignor Anthony Figueiredo will take Acutis’ pericardium, the membrane that surrounds the heart, on the tour. Acutis, an English-born Italian teenager and computer programmer, died of leukaemia in 2006 at age 15 and became the church’s first millennial saint when he was canonised last year.
