Brylee and the PM

Brylee Gibbes

Te Awamutu College student Brylee Gibbes represented Taranaki-King Country MP Barbara Kuriger in New Zealand’s youth parliament this week.

Brylee was joined by Otorohanga’s Kahurangi Katipa-Maikuku representing Angela Roberts while Cambridge students Meghana Gaddam and Sophia Goodrich represented Tim van de Molen and Louise Upston.

The parliamentary youth event, which is held every three years, was New Zealand’s tenth.

The would-be politicians were given the opportunity to ask a minister a question on Tuesday.

Gaddam asked the Minister of Health how the health system reforms address existing nationwide resource constraints in the health sector.

Their time in parliament concluded today with a debate on a mock minimum wage amendment bill, a general debate, and the presentation of select committee reports.
