Fun in Kihikihi

Kihikihi Domain was a hive of activity on Friday.

Two weeks after being postponed due to rain, the Kihikihi Community Day – held every two years – brought families and community organisations together for an afternoon in the sun.

Organiser CommSafe community safety officer Mandy Merson told The News the day’s purpose was to introduce the wider Kihikihi and Te Awamutu communities to clubs and organisations available in the area.

More than 30 groups expressed an interest in having a community stand there.

An inflatable slide and obstacle course also proved popular with younger attendees, and Kihikihi Rugby
Sports Club players ran rugby drills.

“It was wonderful seeing so many families out and about spending time together,” Merson said. “That was the undoubted best part for me.”

Plans are underway for the next community day in 2025.
