Council ready for next step of plan

The formal consultation phase of Ōtorohanga District Council’s Long Term Plan 2021 – 2031, came to a close on Monday and feedback from the community has been positive.

Ōtorohanga Mayor Max Baxter said he was impressed with the engagement work done within the community during the consultation process and was also pleased with the feedback they were receiving.

“With a total of 60 submissions, and 21 wishing to be heard, Council are pleased with the level of engagement we have received our on Long Term Plan,” he said.

“We ran nine drop-sessions in our communities, as well as a daily drop-in centre in Ōtorohanga. Kāwhia was a focus point for us as there is a major piece of work proposed for them in our plan.

“The sessions we ran in Kāwhia were highly successful, with over 60 people coming along to talk with staff about the future of their town.”

The next stage of plan is the hearing process on May 31 followed by deliberations on June 1.

The hearings are open to the public and council plans to adopt the finalised Long Term Plan on June 29.
